ABC Ransom Blog Hop

Welcome to the ABC Ransom Blog Hop,
hosted by Red Carpet Studio!

If you've come from Chas's blog, you're in the right place.

The Red Carpet Studio designers thought it would be fun to host a mystery blog hop while showcasing projects that can be made using all those leftover letters in your stash - hence where the "ransom" comes in. Ransom notes play a huge role in mystery/suspense films, and are often created out of random letters cut from magazines, newspapers, etc. in order to disguise handwriting.

While we won't be doing any kidnapping or holding anybody ransom today - we do have some creative projects to share with you!

For my project using leftover letters in my stash, I created...

I thought I would use left over letters for a page boarder.  I thought this made my BACK TO SCHOOL page perfect.
I just added a few other sticker emblishement and the page was super easy.

I had enough of the bubble square letters to spell "Pre-K"
My TIP:  My son was telling me when he CHEATS at words with friends he uses this site.
It would be perfect to plug in your left over letters and see what you cans spell.

Just plug in all of your letters and it will tell you what you can spell...Print out that sheet and attach it to the letter sheet
OR
Go ahead and get started on some cards....

Here are some other ideas from past blog posts.
bottle cap Necklace
Upcycle old Mail to bookmarks and cards

We're also holding some blog candy ransom! However, the blog candy is hidden, and only certain stops of the hop are hiding it. The only way you can win is if you comment on those blogs! Now, we're not going to tell you whose blogs those are (that would be too easy) but we will tell you what the prizes are!
$20 Gift Certificate

$10 Gift Certificate
$10 Gift Certificate

There will be three winners. Please make sure to leave your contact information when commenting so we can contact you if you win. You have until next Saturday, November 3rd, to hop and comment. Winners will be announced with the start of our next layout challenge on Sunday November 4th at Red Carpet Studio.

And don't forget to check out this week's challenge at Red Carpet Studio! Our challenge this week is inspired by "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and the challenge is to create any fall or Halloween card.

Your next stop is Stephanie G's blog.

P.S. My letters are...D

If you can put all the letters together from each stop of the hop (they're in order), you have a chance to win a mystery prize! Once you've figured out our hidden message, email it to redcarpetstudiochallenge@gmail.com. The mystery prize winner will be announced with the other winners on Sunday November 4th. HINT: The message is a clue as to what our next layout challenge will be. :)

Swimming Scrapbook Page

 One more down!
My kids keeping doing things I keep taking photos and
my pile of NEED TO GET DONE pages keeps piling up.
To complete this page I used a blue paper with wavely lines.  It is a paper I had left over in a paper pack.  I am not sure what the name of the paper is.  I also used some leftover vellum, a glitter pen, and my paper punch.  I was inspired by the RED CARPET STUDIO CHALLENGE BLOG  Come and play along.

  1. 1.  I matted my photots on circle dark blue paper...and traced them with a glitter pen.I cut about 20 vellum circles with my paper punch and then traced it with a glitter pen
  2. I cut about 10 vellum circles with a smaller paper punch and also traced them with a glitter pen.
  3. The letters are from one of those paper packs...and traced them with a dark blue sharpie and a glitter pen.

and it was an easy and fun... layout....

Here is a close up of my bubbles.

I hope this gives you a better view.

This week's challenge is inspired by the movie "The Ring." During the month of October all of our challenges will be inspired by scary movies.

"The Ring" is a 2002 remake of a Japanese horror film staring Naomi Watts, Daveigh Chase and Martin Henderson. The movie centers around a cursed videotape that results in the viewers death after seven days. The main character, Rachel, discovers the only was around the curse is to have someone else watch the video. After searching for answers on how to destroy the tape and get rid of the curse very few answers are given leaving a wonderful opening for a sequel!

Our fabulous sponsor this week is QKR Stampede! They will be providing the winner with 5 digital stamps of the winner's choice from their store.

Along with the randomly chosen winner of this week's challenge, the layout design team will also be taking a look at ALL of the layouts and voting on their top three "spotlight"submissions. Challenges run from Sunday - Saturday evening, and winners are always announced the Tuesday after the challenge ends in order for the design team to have enough time to vote.

Disney's Repunzel Scrapbook Page

This week on the Red Carpet Studio Design Team Challenge was ANYTHING Disney.  I have a ton of Disney layouts to get done sooooo here it is.

My daughter loves Rapunzel and we spent 45 min in line to see her.  It was the only character we waited to see.  I used super expensive paper on this layout.  The pattern paper is a Disney Rapunzel paper It was 99 cents and I got on sale for 40% off.  the glitter cards stock was also 99 cents and I was able to purchase it for 40% off on sale.  The pink swirls are rub ons....I found on a clearance for 50 cents. I had tons left over so I can use again.  The flowers are vellum punches, and so are the leaves.  I also used something I have never used before.  Glitter.  I hate glitter but here I am putting it on a page...

Here is my tip.  I cute the edges off of the Rapunzel paper.  I cut the center out of the glitter paper so I could mat my photos.  This is an awesome way to streach the expensive papers.  This layout cost me under $3

I didn't follow a template or guide line I first just matted my photos, then just started putting things on the page until I liked it.  I then put the vellum flowers and leaves in my xeron sticker maker.... applied them to the page.  I then added just regular glue to the center of the flowers...and accented the swirls with some glue...and just went crazy with the glitter.  I used a small paint brush to remove any excess.
