Liebster Blog Award

First and Foremost, I want to thank Jessica at
Chick-n-Scrap for awarding me the Liebster Blog Award!
I never win anything, and I am very happy that my projects are attracting fans who enjoy my crafts.  When I started this blog, I felt it would be more of journal than a blog folks would actually want to follow.  So thanks to everyone.  Thanks Again Jessica.  I really love your Altered Altoid Tin.  That paper rose rocks!

What to give your favorite blog a shout out.....???

Here are the rules for the Liebster Blog Award.
1.  It is a blog award handed over to your favorite five blogs, that have less than 100 followers.
2.  The award is passed on to the five, by commenting on their blog and telling them that their blog is one of your favorites and this is how you are chosen for the Liebster Blog Award.
3.  The one who receives the award posts a link back to the person who gave them the award, and five of their favorite blogs (you can choose the person who sent you the award if you wish) with less than one hundred followers.  My five are:

Vampire Inspired Baby Room

You know you might be a Die Hard Vampire fan if you decorate your baby's room in a Vampire theme.

I am not making fun of you.  I am standing up beside you saying..."If I was decorating a baby room, this is what I would do."  (Which thank goodness I am not.)  It is darling without being tooo cutsy.  If you feel you need a little fofo....wouldn't some lady bugs look nice.  This is a room you will enjoy being in at 2 am and again at 6am.  This is a wonderful room a baby could grow into.  What do you think?  Are you having a little Renesmee, Elena, Sookie, Buffy or Bella?
See amazon links below to see where you can get this bedding.  It is called Twilight Garden.

Here are some other Vampire Themed baby rooms I liked.

Red Poppy Baby girl Crib set

If you are having a boy you can always decorate in a chess theme. I looked for some that folks had already done with no luck.  My idea:  Find some vinyle chess peices for the wall here are some below.  Have one of the talented women on ETSY design a quilt and bedding set for you.  I think a Forks forest or wolf theme would be cute as well.
Here is a wolf design.

Altered Gum Package

This is an awesome craft to make something out of an item you would normally put in the trash.
You will need the following for this project:
*Old gum package (the snap out gum)
*Cardstock (ribbon and accessories).
*Rubber cement
*Foil

1.  Peel all of the foil off of the back of the gum packages.  Make sure the little holder areas are smoothed out.  I used a pencil eraser to do this.

2.  Unfold the gum packages for a pattern

3.  Fill the gum packages with whatever you like.  I have seen them filled with those little message hearts.  I filled mine with little quotes and sayings.  I typed them printed them out, cut them out and folded the messages inside.

To do this... gently paint the edges of the gum package with rubber cement.  The place foil on the back of it.  I then trimmed the foil out around the package.  THE IDEA IS TO PUNCH OUT QUOTES.

That is really it.  It is very easy.  Be careful with the rubber cement...you don't want to glue the paper in the compartments.

For your covers use the gum packages to trace a pattern on cardstock.  The score and fold the package.  I used rubber cement to close it...and miny clothes pins to hold it until it was dry. (I have not idea what to do with these miny pins)  I am glad I finally found something to do with them.
This one is full of Twilight Qutoes
This one has Jacob quotes from the book and the movie.
This would be for your man.  If I have to explain what the messages you would put  in this on...
You must be to young to know
I think this one would be lovely for a wedding.  Used a giant oval rhinestone.  It could be filled with reasons the bride in groom love each other.  Or love quotes from history.  DREAMS of the future.
This was quote from Bella.
More quotes to inspire a Twihard who is having a bad day.

Fill this one with reasons why you love someone.  A friend, or boyfriend.

Ode to my Coffee Cup. Writing Exercise #1

I am trying to improve my Writing skills.  Exercise #1 is to pick and object that you use every day.  Make a list of 20 things about that object.  Keep in mind the following questions:
What Is it?
What Can be done with it?

After thinking of at least 20 questions (and answers), write at least one paragraph about the object.

Here is my paragraph.  Feel free to critique me, that is how I will improve.
Join me in this writing exercise.  I want to check out your post.  Post a link to your blog below this post in the comment section.
Don't forget to include a photo of your object.

Many would see you as a drink vessel, but I see you as so much more.  In the morning I need you to hold the glorious java nectar that keeps me going throughout the day.  You are there for me every morning, with the understanding that as long I care for you will care for me.  You take me as I am, and it doesn’t matter that I have not yet showered, brushed my hair, or my teeth.   You are there for me in good times and bad.  You don't care how much money I make, or ask for money I don't have.   I can count on you to always be just where I left you.  You serve an important purpose; thank you for your service.  May we be together for many years to come.

Thin Mint Easy Cookie Truffles

Every time I see girl scouts selling cookies in front of my local supermarket......  I can't help but think of  the scene from the Adams Family....You know the one.  Just in case here is the clip

Next thought
Chocolate and Mint are so yummy together.  mmm Thin Mints.

Here my Truffles.  They Ain't Pretty, but they are YUMMY...Really rich you can only eat a few.  Great for Valentines Day.

You will need the following for this recipe:
8ozs of Cream Cheese (a block)
2 boxes of thin mint cookies (or cookies of your choice.
Melting Chocolate.
I was able to make 30 truffles.

You will also need a wax paper to put the truffles on to dry....and a food processor if you have one.

1.  Place all the cookies in the food processor and turn them into DIRT.  If you don't have a food processer put your cookies in a ziplock bag and pound them until done.  A rolloing pin is awesome for this job.

*****NOTE you can use any cookie, oreos (not double stuff), We tried Nutter butters because chocolate and peanut butter is yummy, peanut butter cookies (hard not soft), Ginger Snaps (Awesome and white chocolate on the outside), chocolate chip (hard not soft).  To Vamp it up.  Bake your own dyed RED sugar cookies.  Check your local grocery store See if the bakery has some premade.... Bloody Good.

2.  Add the block of cream cheese into the food processor with your cookies.  I cut the cube into 4ths.  Process them all together until you mixture becomes a dough.  My image is half way done.  I was a bit worried but it works..It turns into a dough ball.  You should not see any white from the cream cheese.  If you don't have a food processor you can use a fork to blend it all together.  It is some work but it works.

4.  I then pulled small pieces of dough out and rolled them into little balls.  They are about the size of  a quarter.

5.  I have never melted chocolate using a double boiler method.  I used a glass Pyrex bowl and a sauce pan.  It melted really well.

6.  I dropped the truffles in the pot one at a time.  I rolled the truffles until coated, using 2 plastic forks to maneuver the truffle around.  I then placed the the truffles on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper to dry.  No cooking needed.

You can use any type of cookies...check these blogs out.
NOTE use Cherry cordial kisses for VAMPIRE Truffle.

T-Shirt Yarn Projects

Below are 2 projects that I attempted with my t-shirt yarn.  It was really easy to work with.  The finished products reminds me of the potholder looms I had as a child.  I kept that in mind when completing your projects.  The texture of a potholder is not something I want around my neck as a scarf, or on my hands as gloves.  But I am sure there are hundreds of projects it will work on.  I made a coffee cup cozy and 3 potholders that I love.  Some other great ideas would be a rug, coasters, crochet bowls, pet toys.  I would love your take on tshirt yarn and to see any projects you have made.  Post in a link below or post in our flicker group.
Here is an awesome rug I may try one day...from Sew Liberated

My Potholder works well.  I have used it several times.

My coffee cup cozy.  Great gift idea.
